In 2023, McGuireWoods Consulting’s infrastructure and economic development team facilitated wide-ranging projects in 26 states and assisted investors from six countries supporting U.S. projects.
Team members engaged in 16 projects across eight states — Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Projects are pending in 18 other states — Alabama, Arizona, California, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington. The projects spanned industry sectors, including data centers, renewable energy, food and beverage, warehouse and logistics, aerospace and aviation, electronics manufacturing, and paper and wood products.
Working in conjunction with government officials and the public, the team realized over $35.62 billion in capital investments on behalf of clients, and more than 2,013 jobs were announced last year as a result of the economic development projects in which the team was engaged. The team offers a full suite of services, including site selection, state and local incentives negotiations, guidance on incentives compliance, and assistance with securing of public infrastructure funding.
Foreign direct investment also accelerated in 2023, as MWC worked on projects in the United States with companies based in six countries: Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, and United Kingdom.
