Spiro Amburn is a senior vice president on McGuireWoods Consulting’s Georgia government relations team. His career spans over 25 years in Georgia state government, having most recently served as chief of staff for Georgia Speaker of the House Jon Burns and chief of staff for the late Speaker David Ralston for 13 years. While in this role, Spiro oversaw the daily administration and management of over 100 employees and a budget of over $23 million. He also served as chief advisor on policy, legislation, budget, and communications.

Spiro also served as the director of legislative services for the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice and as legislative deputy for Gov. Sonny Perdue. During his tenure in state government, Spiro has played a strategic role in managing a variety of legislative initiatives, including historic policy and funding reforms to transportation, public safety, healthcare, and education. He has been named to ZPolitics Capitol Faces Power 60 and James Magazine Most Influential. A Georgia native, Spiro holds a bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State University and a master’s degree from the University of Georgia.
