Rayhan has more than 25 years of expertise in media and communications, including a decade supporting executives at global energy companies navigate the shifting policy, political and regulatory landscape.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Rayhan served as a senior vice president at strategic communications firm Edelman. There, he led the firm’s earned media specialty for energy clients, working with leading journalists to bring forth breakthrough stories to key audiences.​

Rayhan works with clients across the energy industry, including utilities, oil and gas entities, trade associations and renewable developers. He leverages strong relationships with prominent print and trade reporters to find opportunities for clients to land their messages and shape the energy dialogue.​

Rayhan previously led media relations for Dominion Energy’s Virginia operations, positioning the company’s messaging on political and policy issues. He managed a team of spokespeople and supported company executives on multibillion dollar capital projects ranging from development of the largest offshore wind project in the Americas to a historic expansion of solar, energy storage and rural broadband. ​

Rayhan’s career began in broadcast and digital journalism where he spent 17 years producing award-winning coverage on major breaking news stories before moving into digital management at NBC Universal in New York. He later led digital operations for the NBC affiliate in Richmond, Virginia, where he won Associated Press, Edward R. Murrow and Virginia Association of Broadcaster awards for Best Website. ​

Rayhan holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University and a Masters of Political Science from Virginia Tech with a certificate in Environmental Policy and Politics. He currently serves as an adjunct professor of public relations at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Robertson School of Mass Communications. Rayhan lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and two daughters.
