Lauren Hund is an assistant vice president on McGuireWoods Consulting’s Illinois government relations team. Lauren brings experience in health care policy, Medicaid, human services, K-12 education, early childcare, and higher education matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Lauren served as the deputy director of research and appropriations for the Illinois House Republicans. In this position, she coordinated the analysis of the state budget and was responsible for driving additional legislative support and improvements impacting community mental health centers, services for the developmentally disabled and local hospitals throughout the state.

Lauren also served as the lead human services staffer, where she worked directly with legislators to write and analyze legislation and budget proposals pertaining to Medicaid and health care in Illinois. Her work was instrumental in shaping health care and human services policy at the state level. Additionally, she worked on a variety of legislation affecting education, with a particular focus on early childcare and day care centers.

Lauren graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a double major in political science and psychology. While in school, she worked for Gov. Charlie Baker on the data analysis and budget team. Lauren also worked for state Rep. Alyson Sullivan where she drafted legislation for committee approval and attended committee and budget hearings.
