McGuireWoods Consulting senior vice president Bree Raum’s move to the firm was covered by Politico, Law360 and Global Legal Chronicle.

The pieces highlight Raum’s arrival as co-leader of McGuireWoods Consulting’s federal energy practice in Washington, D.C., and her previous senior positions at leading energy companies and advocacy groups. Most recently, Raum served as senior policy advisor and co-chair of the energy and infrastructure industry group at law firm Arnold & Porter.

In an interview with Law360, Raum said what she enjoyed about the McGuireWoods Consulting platform was her familiarity with its members, adding that she has known her co-leader of the federal energy practice, Ryan Bernstein, for about 15 years.

“That’s what I really liked about coming over here,” Raum said. “I knew the people and I knew a number of the clients, and it just seemed really exciting to come over at this time.”

Raum told Law360 that energy consulting work has continued to focus on the possibility of permitting reform and the potential for Democrats to take back control of the U.S. House of Representatives later this year will bolster her practice.

“It’s still an exciting time to be in the energy industry because there is a lot that could happen, and it is exciting to think about the next year,” Raum said.

Bernstein said that Raum is a “major addition” to the firm’s federal practice.

“She possesses deep energy-sector experience, strong policy and political judgment and a clear understanding of how Washington, D.C., makes decisions that affect businesses and investors,” he said. “That perspective will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”
