Kassidy serves as vice president of state government relations on McGuireWoods Consulting’s California team. She is based in the firm’s Sacramento office.
Prior to joining the firm, Kassidy worked in the California State Capitol as a senior legislative staffer for multiple elected officials. After being hired on as a legislative assistant, Kassidy was quickly promoted to legislative director. In this role, she spearheaded the legislative agendas of her respective offices. She has extensive experience navigating California’s complex political environment – and excels at building coalitions and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in the Capitol.
Kassidy brings a deep understanding of the legislative policy making process to the firm. She has worked on numerous issue areas during her tenure in the Capitol including housing and land use planning, healthcare, employment and labor relations, cannabis regulation, economic development, public safety, and energy. Additionally, she contributed to noteworthy legislative initiatives pertaining to, establishing regulatory structures for consumer products, worker protection laws for health and pharmacy workers, strengthening housing laws, land use permitting for telecommunications companies, and establishing new employee discrimination standards.
Before working in the Capitol, Kassidy was a policy analyst for an environmental lobbying firm. There, she advocated for a variety of clients in the Capitol on issues related to environmental health, water, and natural resources. Additionally, she has worked at multiple regulatory agencies, – including the California State Water Resources Control Board and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Kassidy holds a master’s degree in environmental policy and management. She is a native New Yorker.
