McGuireWoods Consulting’s senior vice president Laura Novey will serve as the commencement speaker at Danville Community College’s graduation ceremony on May 11, 2024, noted The Gazette-Virginian.
Novey, who leads the firm’s wide-ranging national education team, served as a former Virginia secretary of education and in leadership roles at both Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia.
“We are honored to have Laura Worley Novey as our commencement speaker,” said Jerry Wallace, president of Danville Community College. “Her remarkable career and dedication to education advocacy will undoubtedly inspire our graduates as they embark on their next chapter. Ms. Novey’s deep-rooted connection to the community college system further reinforces the significance of her address to our students and their families.”
As a member of various boards, including the Hunt Institute and the Memorial Foundation for Children, she continues to champion initiatives that benefit students and communities.
“I am truly honored to address the graduating class of Danville Community College,” said Novey. “Community colleges play a vital role in expanding access to education and empowering individuals to pursue their aspirations. I look forward to sharing insights and encouragement with the graduates as they embark on their journey toward success.”
