On June 5, 2020, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced the appointment of McGuireWoods Consulting chairman, Mark Bowles, to the Board of Visitors at the University of Virginia.
The Board of Visitors is responsible for the long-term planning of the University, as well as its policies and budgets. Bowles has served on the Board since July of 2015 when he was appointed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe, and will continue to serve alongside sixteen other voting members appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition to his service on the Board of Visitors, Bowles serves on the boards of the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and the University of Virginia Center for Politics.
“I’m honored and grateful that Gov. Northam reappointed me to another term on the UVA Board. UVA and higher education generally face enormous challenges as we grapple with the health and safety of our students amidst COVID-19 and the financial challenges that will flow from the impact of the pandemic. I look forward to working with my Board colleagues and UVA leadership to help navigate these challenges,” said Bowles.
As a member of the Board, Mark has served on the presidential search committee and is a long standing member of the Student Life Committee, Buildings and Grounds Committee and Audit Committee at the University.
