ATLANTA – McGuireWoods Consulting is pleased to announce the return of Brian Looby to its Georgia State Government Relations group as a senior vice president. Looby, who is also a partner with McGuireWoods LLP, will assist clients with healthcare-related matters before the Georgia General Assembly and regulatory bodies.
Looby was vice president and senior corporate counsel for a medical professional liability insurance company before returning to McGuireWoods Consulting. He advised general counsel and executive management on complex corporate, healthcare, transactional, regulatory and litigation matters.
“Brian’s experience within the healthcare industry will be a tremendous asset to our clients and we are very excited to have him back,” said Ashely Groome, director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s Georgia State Government Relations team. “His knowledge of the complexities and nuances surrounding state regulations, compliance and licensing issues will provide our team an expert resource to successfully push and advocate for our clients’ business objectives.”
Looby also previously served as chief of the Division of Healthcare Facility Regulation for the Georgia Department of Community Health where he managed the licensing, inspection and certification for a variety of healthcare facilities, and was responsible for compliance matters with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
He first joined McGuireWoods Consulting and McGuireWoods LLP in October 2013. Looby provided legislative and regulatory assistance to clients, specifically in navigating Georgia’s healthcare system, for two years before pursuing the position in the medical professional liability insurance industry.
