On November 9, 2007, Virginia Governor Tim Kaine announced that energy management company GridPoint, Inc. will relocate its operations to Arlington County, Virginia from Washington, DC. GirdPoint applies information technology to the electric grid to increase the reliability, efficiency, and adoption of renewable energy sources. The company plans to invest $5 million and expand employment to approximately 250 new jobs at headquarters over the next three years.
Susan Liberty of the McGuireWoods Consulting Business Expansion team led the incentives negotiations for GridPoint. The company will receive $500,000 from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund, will qualify for the Major Business Facilities Job Tax Credit, and will receive training assistance through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
