May 20, 2026

McGuireWoods Consulting’s 2026 Atkinson-Payne Pro Bono Award is presented to vice president Henry Mohn for his excellent work with Chicago Scholars. Mohn is a member of the firm’s Illinois government relations team.

The organization is a college access program that supports first generation and low income students, aiding them through college and training them to become the next generation of leaders.

Over the last five years, Mohn has helped build a network of support at the local and state levels, introducing the organization leadership to state legislators and staff, the mayor of Chicago, the former CEO of Chicago Public Schools and the governor’s office.

An active member of Chicago Scholars’ board of associates, Mohn has opened doors for the organization with new business sponsorship funding opportunities.

“In a time where resources across the country are getting tighter, McGuireWoods Consulting has been working to bring new partners into the fold,” said Chicago Scholars CEO Jeff Beckham. “It hasn’t just been at the level of elected officials or civic leaders. They’ve also brought business partners in who are now employing our young people and giving them opportunity for internships and full time jobs.”

Mohn hopes to continue making an impact in his community through his work with Chicago Scholars.

“I’m very honored to be receiving this award,” Mohn said. “I think it’s really a reflection on years of work that has gone into this project, and I expect we’ll continue for many more years beyond this award as well.”

Beckham credits Mohn and McGuireWoods Consulting with bringing the organization to new heights.

“I couldn’t imagine doing this work without a partner like McGuireWoods Consulting,” Beckham said. “Henry has been a stalwart, a confidant and a trusted adviser to our organization.”
