Virginia Business recently recognized McGuireWoods Consulting’s executive vice president Chris Nolen and senior vice president Tray Adams as two of the commonwealth’s best lawyers.

With 25 years of experience in Virginia government and politics, Nolen’s legal practice consists of advising companies on political law compliance activities, including lobbying, gift restrictions involving public officials, campaign finance, and government ethics laws.
Additionally, Nolen has been distinguished by Best Lawyers in America for 15 consecutive years.
As the director of the Virginia state government relations team, Adams represents clients before the General Assembly and other state agencies. He concentrates his practice on governmental law, and legislative and regulatory matters with a focus on the telecommunications, healthcare, alcoholic beverage and insurance industries.
Adams was also named in the 2026 edition of the Best Lawyers in America.
