WASHINGTON, D.C. — McGuireWoods Consulting announced that Mimi Bair, a senior legislative staffer for leaders on the U.S. House of Representative’s Budget and Ways and Means Committees, has joined the firm’s federal public affairs team in Washington, D.C., as a vice president.
Ms. Bair has extensive experience on budget, tax and financial service matters, major priorities of the Trump administration and Congress. Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Ms. Bair was the legislative director for Rep. Jodey Arrington, chairman of the House Budget Committee and member of the House Ways and Means Committee. Previously, she served as tax policy advisor for Rep. Vern Buchanan, vice chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.
As legislative director, Ms. Bair oversaw a broad portfolio that included tax, trade, healthcare and energy. She worked closely with Budget Committee and Ways and Means Committee staff to help shape fiscal policy during her years with Reps. Arrington and Buchanan.
Ms. Bair also previously worked with Rep. Steve Stivers, lead Republican on the Housing and Insurance Subcommittee on the House Financial Services Committee, where she managed pandemic risk insurance and banking access issues.
“With tax, trade, and the budget reconciliation dominating Washington D.C., having Mimi’s deep experience in the House will prove invaluable to our clients. Mimi will provide extensive insight into the latest tax and reconciliation proposals from Congress,” said Paul Reagan, director of McGuireWoods Consulting’s Washington, D.C., public relations team.

The firm is well known for its prestigious team of advisors and is highly regarded on Capitol Hill. I am delighted to be a part of the team and its standard of success,” said Ms. Bair.
McGuireWoods Consulting Chairman Mark Bowles noted the role Ms. Bair has played in government: “Mimi has been an integral part of the legislative work coming down from the last two administrations. Serving as senior staff on the most important congressional committee handling the economy has given Mimi a unique understanding of the issues that will be most important in the coming years.” President Jim Hodges, former governor of South Carolina, echoed Bowles: “Mimi adds a great deal to our federal team as we look to developments from the new administration. With her deep knowledge of the budget and financial services issues, Mimi will be a critically important advisor to our clients navigating Washington.”
