On April 15, 2024, McGuireWoods Consulting’s senior vice president W. Ford Graham was quoted in the South Carolina Daily Gazette’s story “Data centers gobble up energy. Should SC block them from getting special deals?” Graham discussed the recent growth of large data center projects in the state.
Graham, who is based in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina, office, noted that South Carolina is not necessarily a hot spot for data centers, but the state’s business growth has led to an increased need for such projects.
“We’re using more data, and you have to have a place to store it, said Graham, who has helped bring a number of data centers to the state.
Graham previously served as director of international strategy and trade for the South Carolina Department of Commerce, where he directed all aspects of the agency’s international efforts, including South Carolina’s four international offices in Delhi, Munich, Shanghai, and Tokyo, identifying foreign direct investment opportunities and assisting South Carolina companies with exporting their products worldwide.
