Numerous outlets covered the news that Lisette Carbajal has joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a vice president in the firm’s government relations team in Richmond.
Law360, Richmond Business Sense and McKnight’s Senior Living all noted that Carbajal joined MWC after working as a state government affairs lobbyist for financial services company Capital One.
Carbajal told Law360 that: “I’m thrilled to join a highly reputable consulting firm with a great track record of meeting the needs of their clients. The decision to join the firm’s Richmond team and assist their healthcare clients aligned closely with my interests to dive back into Virginia government.”
At Capital One, Carbajal led public policy priorities in seven major operational market states.
Carbajal had previously worked as Virginia Health Care Association’s director of government affairs, where she advocated for nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She advocated for a critical emergency fund allocation during the COVID-19 pandemic that resulted in a relief package of over $100 million.
Carbajal began her career in public service, were she worked as a policy advisor and community integration coordinator at the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services. She previously served as a policy advisor to Gov. Terry McAuliffe and as Virginia’s Latino liaison.
