McGuireWoods Consulting welcomes two new additions to its federal public affairs team in Washington, D.C., bolstering the firm’s depth in areas such as emerging technology, international trade and infrastructure, among others.
Thomas Cassidy joined McGuireWoods Consulting as a senior vice president, and as counsel with McGuireWoods LLP. He has worked in the Washington offices of Squire Patton Boggs and Williams Mullen prior to joining MWC. Cassidy does extensive work for infrastructure clients, handling federal lobbying and local government matters with Washington, D.C., and local government entities in the region. A graduate of Howard University School of Law, Cassidy brings with him a long track record of bipartisan work.
“Tom has collaborated with a diverse range of clients in D.C. for the past 30 years,” said McGuireWoods Consulting president, Gov. Jim Hodges. “His long-standing relationships with federal and local government officials in Washington, coupled with his regulatory know-how, complement our team’s capabilities and strengths.”
In addition, Nicole Cohen joins McGuireWoods Consulting’s federal public affairs team as a vice president. Most recently a policy advisor for Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Cohen has significant experience representing companies and business federations on issues including international trade and investment, foreign affairs, and national security. She holds a Ph.D. in Asian Studies from Columbia University.
“Nicole’s experience advising on political, economic, social and cultural conditions in East Asia is an unique asset to our federal team,” said Mark Bowles, chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting. “The broad range of legislative and policy issues that Nicole has addressed with members of congressional staff, combined with her trade and foreign affairs background, will be of benefit to clients regardless of the goods or services they provide.
“The addition of Tom and Nicole to our federal team is indicative of our commitment to our clients across industry sectors and our constant focus on results-driven services,” Bowles added.
