McGuireWoods Consulting Women in Public Affairs is pleased to recognize women on our state government relations and federal public affairs teams who have received top lobbyist honors over the past year.
Holly Deshields, senior vice president and co-director of MWC’s State Government Relations team in Texas was recognized as a Top 100 Hired Gun in Capitol Inside’s 2019 Texas Lobby Power Rankings. New addition to McGuireWoods Consulting, vice president Lucy Nashed, received recognition as a Texas Lobby Rising Star in the same edition.
Senior vice president and director of MWC’s State Government Relations team in Georgia, Ashley Groome, was named a top lobbyist by the James Magazine’s 2018 “Top Lobbyist” issue. Senior vice president Misty Holcomb was also recognized as a top lobbyist. Danica Key Thompson, vice president in MWC’s Atlanta office was selected as a rising star.
At the federal level, senior vice president Mona Mohib, was named as a Top Lobbyist of 2018 by The Hill. Mohib played a pivotal role in the passage of the Anti-Terrorism Clarification Act of 2018, signed into law by President Trump in October 2018. The bipartisan legislation narrows a key legal exemption that terror organizations have used to escape accountability from an original law passed in 1992. The new Act (H.R. 5954/S. 2946) provides victims and their families with a much stronger hand to play when seeking compensation for fatalities and injuries caused by foreign terror organizations.
The McGuireWoods Consulting Women in Public Affairs initiative aims to bring together these women and others working in government affairs and advocacy to share thought leadership and business development opportunities, expand relationships and support new ideas.
