Chris Nolen, a senior vice president in McGuireWoods Consulting’s state government relations practice, recently received administration appointments by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and Virginia House of Delegates Speaker Kirk Cox.
Nolen was appointed to the Virginia Code Commission in July and will work with other members on supervising the codification of the statutes after each General Assembly session, overseeing publication of the Virginia Register of Regulations, and revising and recodifying individual titles of the Code of Virginia, among other duties.
Northam reappointed Nolen to the Uniform Law Commission (ULC) for a four-year term. The ULC provides states with nonpartisan, well-drafted legislation to bring clarity and stability to critical areas of state statutory law.
In addition, the commission’s president appointed Nolen to the Study Committee on Online Data Privacy. The study committee will evaluate whether the commission should develop a uniform or model act to address data privacy issues at the state level.
