WASHINGTON – Robert Wasinger, who served in senior advisory and liaison roles in President Donald Trump’s campaign and transition team after extensive experience on Capitol Hill, has joined McGuireWoods Consulting’s nationally recognized federal government relations team.

Wasinger comes to MWC as a senior vice president from the Trump transition team where he has worked since November overseeing outreach to senators and their staff to advance the incoming administration’s agenda and help Trump nominees win Senate confirmation.

“We welcome Rob to McGuireWoods Consulting and are excited about the experience he brings both from the new president and from his senior staff experience in Congress to help us achieve superior outcomes for our clients,” said MWC Executive Vice President and Director Frank Donatelli, who leads the federal government relations practice.

During Trump’s campaign, Wasinger helped coordinate events at which senators, governors and others spoke as surrogates for the businessman as well as his election “war room” in the week leading up to election night and Trump’s victory. He also played a major role in floor and VIP coordination for Trump at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.

“Rob brings a wealth of knowledge about federal government and the legislative process to his new position at McGuireWoods Consulting. We are fortunate to have him on our team,” said L.F. Payne Jr., president of McGuireWoods Consulting.

Wasinger served in several high level Senate and political roles for U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., including chief of staff, senior policy advisor and legislative director in his Senate office and manager of Brownback’s presidential campaign in 2006-2007.  He also served in the offices of former Kansas Gov. Bill Graves and Jerry Moran, then majority leader of the Kansas Senate.

“Across my years of experience in Washington, I have gotten to become very familiar with the high standard of work McGuireWoods Consulting provides for its clients. I feel very fortunate and honored to now be part of it,” Wasinger said.

He is a 1994 graduate of Harvard University with a degree in economics.
