McGuireWoods Consulting, in partnership with another Richmond-based firm, announced the launch of the Unmanned Systems Association of Virginia (USAV) on September 15, 2016. The formation of USAV is based on a key recommendation from Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe’s Unmanned Systems Commission.  The newly-formed trade association will seek to “promote a legal and regulatory framework that supports innovation, collaboration and growth in the unmanned systems industry in the Commonwealth.” Lobbying will be a major focus of the organization as bills are introduced in the General Assembly dealing with the regulation of drones and autonomous vehicles. Michele Satterlund, Mark Hubbard and Ginny Boland led the effort for McGuireWoods Consulting.
