On Thursday, June 9, Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe signed the nation’s first law allowing moving images in a car while in automated vehicle mode. The legislation, which was lobbied by McGuireWoods Consulting on behalf of Volkswagen Group of America, also expands opportunities for vehicle research in the Commonwealth.
Additional Virginia stakeholders on-hand at the bill signing included State Secretary of Transportation Aubrey Layne, the bill’s sponsors, State Senator Bill DeSteph and Delegate Glenn Davis, as well as David Geanacopoulos, Senior Executive Vice President Public Affairs and Public Policy for Volkswagen Group of America, and representatives from Virginia Tech Transportation Institute and Virginia Automobile Dealers Association.
