The MWC team, which included Ginny Boland, Mark Hubbard and Charles Kelley, submitted entries on behalf of its client VIRGINIAforever – a coalition of businesses and nonprofits advocating for state funding to protect the Commonwealth’s land and water. MWC received a Capital Award of Merit in the publications category for the VIRGINIAforever Five-Year Plan, “Investing in the Commonwealth’s Land and Water,” a 48-page document that proposes state funding goals for 2015 through 2019; and a Commonwealth Award of Merit in the public affairs category for the work executed to promote the Five-Year Plan, which included an unveiling of the plan at the organization’s annual event involving key note remarks from then-gubernatorial candidates Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe; one-on-one meetings with Virginia lawmakers prior to and during the 2014 General Assembly session; and presentations at key meetings in the natural resources community. The annual Virginia Public Relations Awards are presented by the Richmond chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
