Miner, who assists clients with government relations, communications and grassroots issues, left McGuireWoods Consulting to oversee Governor Perry’s communications department where he oversaw messaging, speechwriting and state and national media.

“Mark was an integral part of our success in getting the Austin office launched and we are very excited to welcome him back,” said McGuireWoods Consulting President L.F. Payne, a former U.S. Congressman. “While his political ties and experience will certainly benefit the Austin office’s clients and government relations practice, his presence also significantly bolsters MWCAdvocacy and the National & Multistate practice.”

In addition to Miner’s most recent stint working for Governor Perry, he also served as national press secretary on the Governor’s Presidential campaign and as the Governor’s chief spokesman in the State Capitol and for his successful primary and general election campaigns for re-election in 2010.

“Mark’s return from Governor Perry’s staff solidifies our team and enhances our full-service capabilities in terms of providing government affairs and communications services to our clients,” said Senior Vice President Luis Saenz, who heads up MWC’s Texas State Government Relations practice.

Miner has more than 20 years of experience as a communications professional and has crafted comprehensive communications strategies for high-profile campaigns at the national and state level. His communications experience has included serving as the communications director to Texas Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, the Republican National Committee, former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore, and the Bill Simon for Governor Campaign in California as well as counseling private sector clients who valued Miner’s communications guidance.
