Honeywell Transportation Systems celebrated the growing success of its newest Friction Materials manufacturing facility in Ploiesti, Romania. The facility just recently achieved a production milestone of two million brake pads.

The event was organized by McGuireWoods Romania at the company’s plant in Aricestii Rahtivani near Ploiesti, a state-of-the-art facility aiming to produce 10 million brake pads per year at peak capacity. The brake-pad manufacturing unit in Romania is Honeywell’s first in Europe dedicated to exclusively using the Hot Press manufacturing technology to increase product quality, deliver energy efficiency and decrease delivery time for its customers.

To signal the importance of this investment, the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta attended the event and indicated that, “Romania plans to maintain predictability and stability of economic and fiscal conditions.” He also added that “changes made in the last year and changes to be performed further on are likely to encourage investments, particularly in research and innovation.”

McGuireWoods Romania supported the Honeywell team as they celebrated, “the latest expression of the company’s commitment to transforming its Friction Materials business and also to Romania,” as Hahn stated during the ceremony.

Honeywell’s Ploiesti plant creates more than 300 new jobs bringing its Romanian total to more than 2,200, which includes a turbocharger plant in Bucharest, the company’s largest unit of its kind in the world, as well as its life safety product plant in Lugoj. Honeywell has been in business in Romania for 15 years.

The McGuireWoods Romania team proudly assisted Honeywell in developing their public affairs and communication strategy both for the plant opening as well as the celebration of 15 years of Honeywell in Romania.
