McGuireWoods Consulting was asked by Governor McDonnell’s Senior Energy Advisor Maureen Matsen to participate in a multi-member planning committee to help organize Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s Conference on Energy, to be held October 12 – 14 in Richmond, Virginia. With a theme of making Virginia the Energy Capital of the East Coast, about 30 panels and over 100 speakers will focus on traditional energy sources, like oil, natural gas and coal, as well as renewable sources such as offshore and onshore wind, solar, biomass.
 
Stephen Horton, Director of Grassroots Issue Management, is serving on the core planning committee and helping, along with Cathie France of Virginia Natural Gas, to organize panels related to traditional energy sources.
 
Missy Neff and Emily O’Brion are serving on the planning advisory committee and helping organize panels related to coal and nuclear energy.
 
Jim Kerr, co-chair of the McGuireWoods Energy & Climate Change team will be moderating a panel on nuclear energy on Wednesday, October 13, and Charles Brown, III, a partner in the firm’s Charlottesville office, will be moderating the panel on advanced energy technology research on Thursday, October 14.
