Eric Finkbeiner, Senior Vice President and Director of State Government Relations at McGuireWoods Consulting, was recently named Director of Policy for Governor-elect Bob McDonnell’s transition team. Eric has been with McGuireWoods Consulting since its inception in 1998, and previously served in both the Wilder and Allen administrations. He served as executive director of Governor George Allen’s Commission on Parole Abolition and Sentencing Reform, advised Governor Allen on transportation, environmental, and criminal justice issues, and was communications director for Governor Douglas Wilder’s Task Force on Violent Crime.
 
In addition to Eric’s appointment, Frank Atkinson and Betsy Beamer were also named senior advisers to the Governor-elect’s transition team. Frank serves as chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting, and is also a partner in its parent firm, McGuireWoods LLP. The author of two books on Virginia politics, he served in the Reagan Justice Department and Governor Allen’s cabinet. Betsy worked as the Director of Organization and Staff Planning for McGuireWoods following her service in the administration of Governor Allen. She now works with McGuireWoods Consulting on a part-time basis assisting with special projects.
