Frank B. Atkinson, chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting and the author of two books on Virginia politics, has been a frequently published commentator on this year’s Virginia election for governor. His commentaries have appeared prominently this fall in the Washington Post, National Review, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Another commentary earlier this year in the Richmond Times-Dispatch foreshadowed Republican Governor-elect Bob McDonnell’s winning campaign strategy.

Frank was recently named as Senior Advisor to the McDonnell transition team. He has been a trusted advisor to numerous Virginia GOP candidates and officeholders, and served in Gov. George Allen’s cabinet as legal counsel and director of policy. In a recent profile of Frank in Virginia Review magazine, McDonnell referred to Frank as an “indispensable figure in Virginia politics.”  In addition to his political affiliations and role with MWC, Frank is also a partner at McGuireWoods LLP.
