McGuireWoods Consulting Assistant Vice President Felix Sarfo-Kantanka yesterday was named as a member of the transition team for Richmond Mayor-elect Dwight Jones and will serve on the Employee Relations research committee.
“It’s a great honor to be appointed and I’m very excited to be selected as a member of Mayor-elect Jones’ transition team,” said Sarfo-Kantanka. “When I was with the Kaine administration, I was fortunate enough to work with Mayor-elect Jones on numerous initiatives and always admired his vast knowledge and approach to working with legislators and constituents on both sides of the political aisle.”
Felix will be joined on the Employee Relations committee by former Mayor and City Councilman Walter T. Kenney and Director of Governmental Appointments and Latino Liaison to Governor Tim Kaine Sindy Benavides. In addition to the Employee Relations committee, additional team members were added to the remaining nine research committees, which included Budget and Finance, Education, Public Safety, Community Development, Economic Development, Human Services, Parks and Recreation, Transportation and Information Technology.
“Our goal for the transition has been to put together a qualified team of individuals willing to help build a better Richmond,” Mayor-elect Jones said in a press release.

Prior to joining McGuireWoods Consulting, Felix served as a special assistant for policy to Governor Kaine. He was responsible for advising the Governor on public safety and Commonwealth preparedness issues. He also served as a legislative assistant to House Minority Leader Franklin P. Hall, where he oversaw and coordinated activities for the 69th legislative House district, drafted bills and researched legislative issues.
