On October 14, 2008,Washington Business Journal and the Greater Washington Board of Trade will jointly host the first annual Greater Washington Green Business Awards. These awards will acknowledge area businesses that made the most effective and meaningful efforts to incorporate sustainable practices beneficial to the local community, the environment and local economy. The finalists and winners will also be recognized on October 17, in a special supplement of the Washington Business Journal.
 
Christine Eppstein, VP of Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability and member of the Greater Washington Board of Trade’s Green Advantages Committee, was recruited to serve as a judge for this competition. In this capacity, she reviewed the applications for the award, and had the opportunity to learn about over a hundred sustainable initiatives in the area. She will attend in the October 14 Awards event, on behalf of McGuireWoods Consulting.
