“McGuireWoods and McGuireWoods Consulting were honored to be a selected as a host to Ambassador Vierita, Ambassador Taubman and the Romanian delegation that traveled to the United States for this great event,” said L.F. Payne, president of McGuireWoods Consulting. “With the establishment of our office in Bucharest and our continuing work for the Romanian government and our clients with interests there, we were able to solidify our position as an emerging business consultant that produces positive results in Eastern Europe.”

Ambassador Taubman is a long-time businessman who previously served as president of Mozart investments in Roanoke, Va. Prior to that, he was chairman and director of Advance Auto Parts. “Many prominent American companies have recognized Romania’s tremendous promise and economic potential and have expressed their confidence in Romania’s future by making sizeable investments,” said Ambassador Taubman. “Successful American investments in Romania strengthen both of our economies and we believe that there are many more business opportunities awaiting other American investors.”

Ambassador Vierita was confirmed to his position on December 5, 2007. Prior to his confirmation, Vierita served as State Secretary for European Affairs with the Romania Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he has served in numerous other executive positions. He is also a former ambassador to Germany and a career member of the Diplomatic Corps of Romania.

“The Ambassadorial Road Show was a great opportunity to have extensive discussions with actual and prospective American investors. There is an enormous potential in Romania for doing business and the business environment is constantly consolidating. The meeting hosted by McGuireWoods was a fruitful opportunity to have an essential input from representatives of several highly regarded U.S. companies that invested so far in Romania. It was a constructive dialogue and I would like to thank McGuireWoods for hosting this event.”
