On July 17, 2007, North Carolina Governor Mike Easley announced that Honda Aero Inc. will relocate its headquarters and jet engine manufacturing operations, including production of the new HondaJet, to Burlington, North Carolina.  This project will result in an investment of $27 million and the creation of nearly 70 jobs that will pay an average wage of more than $62,000.  Honda Aero is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Honda Motor Co.

Chris Lloyd led the economic development incentives negotiations on behalf of the company, which received a Job Development Investment Grant among other incentives.
